You are managing long-term care
Do I need to eliminate gluten or dairy for endometriosis?
There isn’t a universal need to eliminate gluten or dairy for endometriosis—some patients notice improvement, while others don’t, and removing major food groups unnecessarily can make it harder to meet your nutrition needs. The most useful approach is symptom-driven: if you’re dealing with significant bloating, bowel changes, or IBS-type symptoms, gluten and/or dairy can be reasonable items to test rather than assuming they’re the cause.
We typically suggest a structured, time-limited elimination (often 2–4 weeks), followed by a guided reintroduction so you can clearly see whether symptoms change and which foods are true triggers. If you have ongoing digestive symptoms, we can help you sort out whether this looks more like food intolerance, a GI condition, or endometriosis-related bowel involvement, and build a plan that supports both symptom control and nourishment.
