You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Why is nausea worse on my period?

Topic:Symptoms
Affected areas:abdominalpelvicbowel

Nausea can worsen during your period because prostaglandins rise with menstruation. These hormone-like chemicals help the uterus contract, but they can also irritate the GI tract—leading to cramping, diarrhea, and nausea alongside pelvic pain.

When adenomyosis is present, the uterus may contract more forcefully and painfully, which can make nausea feel more intense. With endometriosis, inflammation and bleeding around implants can amplify pain signals and trigger broader “sick” or unsettled stomach feelings during a period. If your nausea comes with heavy bleeding, severe cramps, or significant bowel symptoms, our team can help evaluate whether adenomyosis and/or endometriosis could be contributing and discuss options to reduce those cycle-linked spikes.
