You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Is endo belly really just IBS?

No. Endo belly is its own distinct phenomenon—common in endometriosis and adenomyosis—and can occur completely independently of IBS.
The bloating can look a lot like IBS, food intolerance, or typical premenstrual bloating from the outside. But endo belly tends to stand out: it's often severe, cyclical, and tied to pelvic pain and fatigue. It may flare with sex, bowel movements, or prolonged sitting—and it can come on suddenly and unpredictably.
IBS, by contrast, is usually defined by a pattern of bowel habit changes (diarrhea, constipation, or both) alongside abdominal discomfort. That said, the two conditions can overlap and amplify each other.
Because the symptoms can look so similar on the surface, we focus on the full picture—timing, triggers, associated pelvic symptoms, and your exam and imaging history—to determine what's actually driving the bloating. If recurrent abdominal distension is affecting your quality of life, our team can help clarify the cause and discuss next steps toward lasting relief.
