What treatments help nerve-related pain in endometriosis or adenomyosis?

Nerve-related (neuropathic) pain in endometriosis or adenomyosis often needs treatments that calm an over-sensitized nervous system, not just inflammation. Options may include certain prescription nerve-pain medications (such as SNRIs, TCAs, or gabapentinoids), topical numbing medicine like lidocaine in select situations, and non‑drug tools like TENS to modulate pain signaling.

For some patients, targeted procedures like nerve blocks (for example, pudendal or hypogastric blocks) can be both diagnostic and therapeutic, helping clarify which pain pathways are involved and providing relief. Pelvic floor rehabilitation and desensitization work can also reduce “amplification” when muscles and nerves become protective and reactive over time. If imaging, exam, or surgical findings suggest endometriosis is irritating or entrapping a nerve, excision surgery may be part of a comprehensive plan—our team can help you sort out which approaches best match your symptoms and goals.
