When is surgery considered for endometriosis-related back pain?

Topic:Surgery
Affected areas:backpelvicabdominal

Surgery may be considered when endometriosis-related lower back pain is persistent, worsening over time, or significantly disrupting your daily life—especially if endometriosis is suspected or already confirmed. It’s also a common next step when hormonal or other medical therapy hasn’t provided enough relief, causes side effects you can’t tolerate, or isn’t a good fit for your goals.

In these situations, excision surgery is designed to remove endometriosis at its source rather than simply suppress symptoms. Because back pain can reflect deeper or more complex patterns of pelvic disease, surgeon experience and a careful, minimally invasive surgical plan matter. If your back pain is ongoing and you’re wondering whether surgery makes sense, our team can review your symptoms, prior treatments, and imaging history to help you decide on the most appropriate next step.
