You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Can adenomyosis cause deep pain during or after sex?

Symptomspelvicabdominalback

Yes—adenomyosis can cause deep pain during intercourse and cramping or aching afterward. When endometrial-like tissue grows within the uterine muscle, the uterus can become enlarged, inflamed, and very tender, which may make deep penetration feel painful and can trigger lingering cramps.

Because adenomyosis commonly overlaps with endometriosis, pain with sex isn’t always from one condition alone. If you also notice heavy or prolonged bleeding, worsening period cramps, or a heavy “pressure” feeling in the pelvis, our team can evaluate for adenomyosis and related causes using your symptom pattern and targeted imaging, then discuss the options for getting lasting relief.
