How do I know if my bleeding is too heavy?

If you’re changing a pad or tampon every 1–2 hours, bleeding longer than 7 days, passing large clots, or frequently bleeding through clothes or bedding, those are practical signs your flow may be heavier than expected. Many patients also notice they’re planning their day around bleeding or avoiding work, school, exercise, or intimacy because of it.

Heavy bleeding can also show up as symptoms of low iron or anemia—fatigue, weakness, dizziness, pale skin, headaches, or getting short of breath with exertion. Even if your labs come back “normal,” bleeding that disrupts your life or feels hard to manage is worth a closer look. Our team can evaluate your bleeding pattern, symptoms, and pelvic history to identify treatable causes and discuss next steps—reach out to schedule a consultation.
