You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
How is endometriosis urinary urgency different from a UTI?
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) often come with burning or stinging when you urinate, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, and sometimes a general “sick” feeling or fever. They’re also usually supported by a positive urinalysis and/or urine culture. With endometriosis, urinary urgency more commonly shows up as a recurring “have to go now” sensation that may not match what urine testing shows.
Endometriosis-related urgency often fluctuates with your menstrual cycle and may occur alongside other pelvic symptoms like period pain, pain with sex, bowel changes, or ongoing pelvic pressure. A key difference is that symptoms can persist or keep coming back despite negative cultures or only temporary improvement with antibiotics. If you’re stuck in a cycle of urgency with negative testing or repeat “UTIs,” our team can help evaluate whether endometriosis or other pelvic conditions may be contributing and discuss next steps during a consultation.
