Can adenomyomectomy improve fertility?

In carefully selected patients—especially those with focal adenomyosis—adenomyomectomy may improve fertility by restoring more normal uterine architecture, which can support implantation and pregnancy. Many patients also experience meaningful relief of adenomyosis-related pain after surgery, which can make timing intercourse or fertility treatment more manageable.
Because adenomyomectomy involves cutting into and reconstructing the uterine muscle, it does create a uterine scar. For that reason, we typically recommend allowing time for the uterus to heal before trying to conceive, and future pregnancies usually require close obstetric monitoring with a planned cesarean delivery. If fertility is a priority, our team can review your imaging, symptoms, and reproductive goals to help determine whether adenomyomectomy is an appropriate option for you.
