You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Can adenomyosis cause pain with bowel movements?
Yes—it can. With adenomyosis, the uterine muscle can become inflamed, thickened, and very tender, especially around your period. Because the rectum sits directly behind the uterus, uterine cramping and pressure can be felt as deep rectal pain or pain with bowel movements even when the bowel itself isn’t affected.
That said, painful bowel movements can have overlapping causes, and adenomyosis can also coexist with endometriosis or other pelvic conditions that irritate the area and amplify symptoms. Our team focuses on a thorough history and targeted imaging review to clarify whether your pain pattern fits adenomyosis alone or suggests additional sources. If bowel pain is affecting your daily life, reach out to schedule a consultation so we can help map out the most likely drivers and next steps.
