Can hormonal therapy improve endometriosis-related diarrhea?

Topic:Symptoms
Affected areas:bowelpelvicabdominal

Yes—hormonal therapy can help some people with diarrhea and urgency that flare with endometriosis or adenomyosis. By quieting menstrual cycling, these medications may reduce prostaglandin-driven cramping and pelvic inflammation that can irritate the bowel, which sometimes leads to fewer bowel flares.

That said, response is very individual: some patients get meaningful improvement, others notice only partial relief, and some experience side effects that can worsen GI symptoms. If bowel symptoms are a major part of your picture, our team can help you sort out whether your diarrhea pattern fits hormonally driven disease, bowel involvement, or another overlap—and build a plan that matches your goals, including discussing medical options and when a surgical evaluation may be more appropriate.
