What does recurrence mean after endometriosis treatment?

Treatment Challengespelvicsystemicback

“Recurrence” can mean different things after endometriosis treatment, and those meanings don’t always line up. For some people it refers to symptoms returning, while for others it means endometriosis lesions regrowing or new lesions developing. It’s possible to have symptoms without clear lesion regrowth, and it’s also possible to have lesions without the same level of symptoms.

When pain or other symptoms return, we like to step back and reassess the full picture rather than assuming the disease has automatically “come back.” Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, nerve sensitization, and overlapping conditions can all mimic or amplify endometriosis-type symptoms. If you’re worried about recurrence, our team can help sort out what’s most likely driving your symptoms and discuss next steps based on your goals and prior treatment.
